Tech&Text Support for ARt chat

Object descriptions in augmented reality

February 13 2022 – May 15 2022

A phone is held by a woman whom we only see outlines of. There are comments on her screen, flesh looking fabric hanging in the exhibition space. Example of comments within ARtChat

With ARt chat, museum visitors can virtually add to object texts in the exhibition and discuss them with others. The app combines augmented reality, art and communication.

Object texts are often considered more intensively than the actual work. And who actually says that the interpretation written there is the only possible one?

We want to question and expand the authorship of exhibition texts. The app ARt chat offers the possibility to contribute your own virtual contributions or to comment on other texts.

In this way, an exchange between the viewers can take place and lively discussions can develop.

Tech&Text Support offers content and technical support for the ARt chat app. With know-how and without fear of contact, Tech&Text supports the visitors and helps to write texts, which are then played into the room via AR - as augmented reality.

ARt chat was developed jointly by nextmuseum.io, the MIREVI Lab and students of the University of Applied Sciences Düsseldorf. nextmuseum.io is a digital community platform for swarm curation and co-creation and is operated by the NRW-Forum/ Kunstpalast Düsseldorf and the Museum Ulm.
