Let’s bring East Asian pop culture to Düsseldorf! Comics, movies, and food – products from China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan shape the mainstream world-wide. The exhibition showcases the colourful world of kawaii characters such as Hello Kitty, but also sheds light on the economic and political strategies and influence behind the export of cultural goods.
About 1,000 objects illustrate various aspects of life from beauty to gaming, music to fashion. Dip into fan culture und get to know how the relationship influences idols, economy, and politics.

Wir bringen ostasiatische Popkultur nach Düsseldorf! Ob Comics, Filme oder Essen – Produkte aus China, Hong Kong, Japan, Südkorea und Taiwan prägen den globalen Mainstream. Die Ausstellung zeigt die bunte Welt der Kawaii-Charaktere wie Hello Kitty, beleuchtet aber auch die ökonomischen und politischen Strategien und Einflussnahme hinter dem Export kultureller Güter.
Rund 1.000 Werke verdeutlichen verschiedene Lebensbereiche von Beauty bis Games, von Musik bis Mode. In der Führung tauchen wir vor allem in die Fankultur ein und erfahren zudem, wie sich die Beziehung auf die Idole, auf die Wirtschaft und Politik auswirkt.
