Awareness
‘Awareness’ means being mindful and attentive to the boundaries of others – and that is precisely what we are concerned with: we want all visitors to feel safe, seen and comfortable.
That's why we want to make sure that no one is discriminated against because of their skin colour, origin, gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental characteristics, social background or religion. Violent, aggressive, disrespectful or abusive behaviour also has no place here.
The awareness person and the NRW-Forum team are there for you if you experience or observe discriminatory or abusive behaviour – or if you feel unsettled or uncomfortable in a situation. You can approach us at any time. We will listen and try to help you.
Your perception counts. You alone decide when a boundary has been crossed. We will then consider together what you need. All conversations will be treated confidentially.
During opening hours, an awareness person will be on site and available to talk to. You can recognise them by their pink T-shirt. You can also reach them at the following telephone number: +49 157 56157393.
An awareness room is available as a place of rest – please speak to the awareness person about this.
The NRW-Forum aims to be a place where all visitors feel welcome, safe and comfortable. This code of conduct serves as a common basis for respectful and considerate interaction with one another.
It is not permitted to engage in sexual acts or undress during your visit to the NRW-Forum.
Discrimination
Discrimination of any kind (e.g. based on skin colour, origin, gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental characteristics, social background or religion) will not be tolerated.
Non-violent environment
Physical and psychological violence will result in a ban from the premises. This includes the use of racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist remarks and swear words, the wearing of discriminatory symbols and sexual harassment. It is not permitted to undress or have sex in the exhibition.
Sensitivity to differences
Everyone brings different experiences and perspectives to the table. Not all of us have the same level of knowledge when it comes to dealing with discrimination. We want everyone to treat each other with openness, respect and a willingness to learn. You can obtain information and suggestions for further training from the awareness person.
Photography and video recording
If you would like to take photos or videos and possibly publish them, please obtain the consent of the people depicted beforehand.
Open to feedback
The Code of Conduct is a living document. If you have any suggestions, criticism or questions, please feel free to speak to the awareness person. We welcome feedback.
In the event of violations of the Code of Conduct, the awareness person will seek to talk to the people involved. We reserve the right to issue warnings or impose a ban on entering the premises.
