Augmented Reality (AR) is one of the most exciting presentation formats for contemporary art today. With the world’s first AR Biennale the NRW-Forum Düsseldorf is offering a prominent platform to this young art form. Digital sculptures by 19 international artitst will be shown throughout Ehrenhof and Hofgarten.
Additional works are created as satellite projects in Cologne and Essen within the framework of urbanana, a project of Tourismus NRW and its partners.
Using your own smartphone or tablet, you will explore the outdoor exhibition space and interact with the works in real time. You will make fairies dance, witness an art theft, communicate with digital characters, play virtual chess and much more...
How it works
Download free app AR Biennale at the appstore.
Markers are set up in the park. Scan them using the app's scan function and the AR works appear on your display.
The app also offers site plans and descriptions of the works and artists.
Thanks to our partners Canon/Cognitas for their support.
Tickets
The app includes 13 free works, to be immediately scanned and explored. Via an in-app-purchase the remaining 22 works can be activated for 4,99 Euro.
